Radioisotopes Lab

The laboratory for radioisotopes research of the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences hosts state-of-the-art equipment for research activities that involve the use of radioactive materials, in agreement with all the relevant safety regulations. The equipment is suited for a wide range of experimental procedures that involve the use of radioactive materials. For this reason, this is one of the few laboratories that are largely used by used by scientific staff of several different faculties.
The research  activities carried out in the laboratory focus primarily on cell metabolism, of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. In particular, experiments based on the use of radioactive substances are performed with the goal of understanding the functioning of microbial networks in marine environments and eco-physiological adaptations of phytoplankton in relation to environmental conditions.
