Specificity
Since its foundation the Faculty of Science of the Università Politecnica delle Marche is characterized, first in Italy, as a center of scientific teaching and training on marine environment issues examined in all its components. Studies are also very developed in the field of biotechnology.
Another salient feature is its numerous international contacts through research collaborations with Universities and Research Centers not only in Europe, in various fields ranging from Marine Biology to the Advanced Biochemistry and to the Applied Biotechnologies; numerous international contacts are also in the didactic including both projects with Erasmus program and Master in collaboration with foreign Universities on specified topics.
From the teaching standpoint the Faculty courses include numerous laboratory activities, such as experimental exercises for all the teaching, an internship in public or business structures and a thesis of at least one year to achieve the MSc.

The researchers, graduate students and students of DiSVA are conducting their research not only in the Adriatic Sea, in the Mediterranean and Italy but also in other areas of the globe (Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Antarctica).
