We are glad to announce that the project ALGINLOOP (ALGae and INsects in LOOp Production): Innovative, circular and eco‑sustainable production of insects and microalgae intended for new feeds and potential functional foods, funded by Fondazione Cariverona, will start in March, 31, 2026
The goal? To build a circular and sustainable value chain linking microalgae and edible insects (the house cricket Acheta domesticus) to produce:
novel food and feed enriched in omega-3 fatty acids
low-impact processes through the reuse of by-products (frass)
innovative solutions in line with the European Green Deal
The project involves the collaboration of:.
DiSVA – UNIVPM (scientific coordination, Prof. Cristina Truzzi)
EVOLVEAT (ex-Italynsect s.r.l.) (industrial cricket farming)
ENERECO / ERGEVA (microalgae production and technological support)
With ALGINLOOP we aim to prove that what is often considered “waste” can become a valuable resource, improving nutrition while reducing environmental impact.
